Henry Kaufmann Day Camps: Off to a Great Start

AND WE’RE OFF…

Our day camps are in full swing. It feels like school just ended but some camps have already finished week 3. After a long winter of hurricanes, snow storms, and a lot of hard work getting our sites ready, seeing the thousands of smiling campers and listening to their happy voices is a ray of sunshine and music to our ears as they swim, play sports, and engage in all that camp has to offer. p

Here is some of what’s been happening at camp so far.

HKC Staten Island

The Lillian Schwartz Day Camp and New Country Day Camp are finishing their second week. In spite of some inclement weather and then intense heat campers went home each day with a big smile. Campers were so excited to begin their summer adventure and meet their counselors and cabin mates that the weather just didn’t matter.

New Country Day Camp campers keep it fun with parachute games.

The Lillian Schwartz Day Camp is very excited about its new ropes challenge course and a new program for non-ambulatory campers. The 2013 theme is the J Factor and this week they will incorporate the theme into arts and crafts when campers tie-dye white t-shirts to celebrate that they are “colorfully courageous.” Teen Travel Camp is off to a great start with trips to exciting places like Diamond Gymnastics Indoor Rock Climbing in Hanover, NJ and Bounce U Indoor Inflatable Entertainment Center.

This week Marks Jewish Community House campers are having fun in arts and crafts with paint.

HKC Pearl River

The 92nd Street Y’s Camp Yomi campers are having a blast! And with so many great activities planned it’s sure to continue. Campers have been swimming, playing soccer, cooking, and showing off their creativity in arts & crafts, among other things. Camp Yomi is very excited about its new activities program courtesy of the Liberty Science Center and the New-York Historical Society. Check it out.
