FRIENDS OF HKC HELD ITS 3RD “NIGHT AT CITI FIELD” ON TUESDAY

Tuesday night Friends of the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds gathered in a beautifully appointed Empire Suite at Citi Field to cheer on the Mets and support the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds.

It was a winning night for HKC! We had a sell out crowd or more than 70 young men and women and between ticket sales and our raffle we raised $10,000!

We had burgers from Shake Shack, Hot Dogs from Nathan’s and a vast array of other delicious foods, as well as a great selection of wine, beer and sodas.  All in all it was a great evening for friends to get together, watch a ball game and support HKC at the same time.

We paused in our revelry to gather for a few minutes to hear some remarks by Committee Chair Evan Weinberg, CEO Lenny Silberman and our special guest Howie Martin, Executive Director of Bronx House.

No matter who was speaking, the message was clear – HKC plays a vital role in ensuring children from all backgrounds can have an amazing summer experience.  But as Howie Martin, when talking about Bronx House, reiterated, HKC plays a special role in helping under-privileged kids see the world outside New York City.

WINTER WORK AT HKC

It’s been a busy winter for HKC.  Between special projects and the usual clean-up and clearing, we’ve been working hard at all three locations.

Long Island

Construction continues on the new Alan and Kathy Sports Pavilion at the Alice N. Proskauer site.

Staten Island

At the Flora Haas Site on Staten Island we’ve done some clearing by the pool and we’re almost finished renovating the bathhouse.

Pearl River

The new playground at the Mildred Goetz site looks better than ever with a fabulous path and all the underbrush cleared away!

FRIENDS OF HKC HAD A FUN NIGHT OUT!

On February 9th, the Friends of the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds held its 1st event of the year.  Nearly 100 young professionals gathered at the Hill in Murray Hill for a fabulous night out!

With live music supplied by David Delaney and friends and an open bar, the stage was set for a great night. Friends came together to hang out, shmooze, all while supporting Jewish day camping in New York.

A highlight of the evening was the restaurant raffle. Nine gift certificates for dinner for two were raffled off. We thank the Ainsworth, Cafe Wha?, Empellon, Estancia, Greenwich Street Tavern, Lure Fishbar, Pietro’s, Spasso, and Tao for their contributions and the Hill for hosting the event.

Thanks to the Friends of HKC Committee for a fantastic night:
